The final day of the EFL regular seasons will be on the weekend of May 6/7, with the play-off finals to take place between May 27-29. League One and League Two will continue as normal throughout the tournament. The Championship will pause on the weekend of November 12/13 for the World Cup group stage, before resuming on the weekend of December 10/11. The EFL's 2022/23 season will start a week earlier than usual, with the first fixtures taking place on the weekend of July 30/31. The FA Cup third round will take place on the weekend of January 8/9 - the same time as in the 2021/22 season - but the final will take place three weeks later on Saturday June 3. Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, clubs must submit a Minimum Salary Tender to retain the exclusive negotiating rights to their players with expiring 2022 contracts who have fewer than three accrued seasons of free agency credit.
Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, clubs must submit qualifying offers to their restricted free agents with expiring contracts to retain a right of first refusal/compensation. Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, clubs must exercise options for 2023 on all players who have option clauses in their 2022 contracts.
